Navlakhi is a Gujarat Maritime Board port on Hansthal Creek, at the southwest end of the Gulf of Kutch. It is an all-weather intermediate port where the berth is shared with other bulk cargoes, coal above all, so a cement discharge that stays enclosed matters to everyone working the port, not only to the cement receiver. The Ariel pneumatic ship unloader supplied to Sanghi Cement for Navlakhi works vessels of up to 12,000 DWT at a rated 300 tonnes per hour, the top of the Ariel range. The machine draws cement directly out of the hold and carries it to shore in a fully sealed pneumatic line. There is no open transfer point on the quay, no spillage into the water and no conveyor gallery standing in salt air. The machine here is an Ariel Dock Mobile, the earlier generation of the line. A dock mobile unit lives on the berth: it travels along the quay rather than on public roads, and in exchange it carries the largest vessel class and the highest rate in the range. For a port berth where cement arrives in large parcels, that is the right trade. This is our largest pneumatic ship unloading reference by vessel class.
