Pneumatic Pumping Unit for Cement Discharge

This pneumatic pumping unit was supplied to CIMPOR Cabo Verde, S.A. for cement discharge in the Cabo Verde islands. Cabo Verde is an archipelago, and every tonne of cement consumed there arrives by sea. CIMPOR Cabo Verde produces and distributes cement across the islands from its base in Praia, with production units on Santiago and Sal and warehouses on seven islands, so ship-to-shore and island-to-island transfer is the backbone of the operation rather than a step at the end of it. The company’s Cabo Verde assets passed to Taiwan Cement Corporation in early 2024, and the business now belongs to that group.

The pneumatic pumping unit is rated for vessels of up to 10,000 DWT at 300 tonnes per hour. It draws cement from the hold and conveys it in a sealed line, which matters in an island supply chain for two reasons: the cargo stays dry in a humid marine climate, and the discharge does not depend on heavy fixed shore equipment being in place at every call.
