Big Bag Unloading System | Reykjavík

This big bag unloading system was supplied to Steinsteypan in Reykjavík, Iceland, pairing an unloading station with pressure vessels. A standard big bag unloader empties the bag and feeds a screw or a short conveying run, so storage has to sit close to the unloading point. Pressure vessels turn the same station into a pneumatic conveying source: cement is dosed, fluidised and pushed through a pipeline to a silo some distance away, at height, or across a site where a mechanical conveyor would be impractical. Iceland imports every tonne of cement it uses, the working season is short and the weather decides when material can be moved, so a discharge line that stays enclosed and does not depend on a long mechanical run is worth more there than almost anywhere else. It is also the northernmost installation in our reference list, which on its own answers the question of how the equipment behaves in a cold climate.
